20190419-Cooper's Hawk - 1

A Cooper’s hawk was admitted on 4/19/2019 with an interesting story.  The person who found the Coop had just moved to Fort Wayne and didn’t know who to contact.  She ended up calling the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.  Kat Ternet, rehab coordinator and vet tech, picked up the bird from the zoo.  The bird was standing, but seemed lethargic.  Upon examination, a right eye injury was noted.  The right eye was swollen and puffy.  The 3rd eye lid, as well as the bottom eye lid, was bruised.  The bird was lethargic and uneasy on his feet.  He was given eye medication to help with the pain and swelling.  He was also given fluids to help correct any dehydration 05/05/19 This Hawk is still being treated for its eye injury but most concerning is that it will not eat on its own. We have been force feeding it somewhat successfully. The decision was made to move it to one of our falconers in the hope that it will eat better in a larger pen 05/11/19 This hawk is doing better at the Falconers. He is eating on his own now
