20251216-Eastern Screech Owl
History
On December 28, a fireplace-loving Screech Owl went back to his territory near Bluffton, IN. The wind speeds kept the little fellow from flying very far. But he flew low and strong for about 50 feet to a perch and surveyed the area to refresh his memory of "home".
I was lucky enough to hear the rest of the fireplace saga. A squirrel got in WHILE THERE WAS A FIRE IN IT. Its tail was smoldering as it raced around inside the house, was captured, and moved back outside. He was observed for the next 3 years around the yard doing what squirrels do despite his homely tail.
The mental picture kept me laughing all the way home.
