History

7/20/2025 - *RELEASE DAY* Soarin Hawk volunteers Sharon Partridge and Brian Grubb released a GHO on July 20, 2025. The bird was released within a mile of where it was originally found near Harlan, IN. The release was successful. The bird flew from the box looking strong and coordinated, easily landing in a tree and immediately met by a group of bluejays, cardinals, and sparrows complaining about his presence.

On June 13, 2025, SH volunteers Sharon Partridge and Brian Grubb rescued an adult Great Horned owl. He was found in a barn yard just off of Hwy 37 about a mile east of Hwy. 469. The owl ran into the barnyard fence in the morning. The caller watched the owl as he hopped around the yard all day, sometimes taking short flights if the caller approached.

We picked him up at approx. 8:30 pm and transported him to SH. We did a brief exam and found the owl to be extremely thin.
