20230807-American Kestrel-1

10/1/2023 - This little make fledgling had shared a rehab mew with 2 other fledglings, they all passed mouse school and 3 were released, minutes apart, on the Soarin' Hawk property today. 

We received a call from Ag Plus in Columbia City, IN this afternoon.  A passerby found an American Kestrel in the middle of the road and brought it in to them asking them to help it.  One of the folks that works there, lives in Fort Wayne so I met him at his house to pick up the bird.  It was a male fledgling, with some down still on its head, it was very quiet but alert and was laying in the box.  I could not see any apparent injuries, but I am assuming a car strike since it was found in the middle of the road.  It was late in the day so I took the bird home and will transport it tomorrow morning to our ICU for triage.
