20190808-Red-tailed Hawk -1

This juvenile hawk was found on the ground in Fort Wayne, unable to fly. The concerned citizen that found him very generously took him to Pine Valley Veterinary to be examined by our veterinarian. He appears to have been hit by a car. The examination revealed probable neurological damage. His condition is guarded 08/10/19 This young Hawk is in our treatment facility under observation. He is being treated with pain medication . He  is being treated with subcutaneous fluids and being tube fed 08/18/19 This young Hawk's neurological issues  are improving a little . He is still under observation in our treatment facility 08/25/19 It appears this young Hawk's neurological issues are improving but it is showing signs that it could have vision issues. He is still being monitored in our treatment facility 09/01/19 This young Hawk continues to improve in our treatment facility 09/08/19 This Hawk has been moved to our rehabilitation facility 9/15/19 This beautiful bird has neurological injuries and has been deemed non-releasable. 10/01/19 There has been no change in this birds status 10/15/19 There has been no change in this birds status 11/15/19 We are hoping to find a permanent home for this hawk because it is non releasable. 12/15/19 There has been no change in this birds status 1/5/2020 The status of this bird has not changed 02/02/2020 Paperwork has begun for this Hawk . It is non-releasable. A home has been found for it at the Atlanta Zoo 03/02/2020 . This hawk is non-releasable. A home has been found for it at the Atlanta Zoo 05/05/2020 This hawk's status remains the same 06/01/2020 The Atlanta Zoo is still interested in this hawk as an education bird for them. We are just waiting for our transportation service to become available again .
