20160302-Red-tailed Hawk

Soarin' Hawk received a call about a possible injured red Tailed Hawk. A gentleman named Barry Gynn said his son had witnessed the hawks fighting in the air and one was injured. He looked us up on GOOGLE and found the Soarin' Hawk website. Our rescue volunteer took the information and headed out for ADVANCED AUTO PARTS on Lima Road. The volunteer arrived and was unable to find the hawk at first. One of the employees found his tracks in the snow. We were then told he was behind the store in the treeline. Once he was located our volunteer had to crawl under the trees to get to the bird. He was NOT cooperative to say the least. Inspite of our kevlar line raptor proof gloves, the volunteer was taloned anyways. We asked the employees to share their pictures of the rescue and of the hawk. Our rescue volunteer noticed before catching him, that his wing was hanging down and blood was on his feet. The bird was taken to Pine Valley Vet's office where she/he will be evaluated by our vet Dr. Pat.
