Staehle Foundation grant for new exercise aviary
Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation is proud to announce that we have received a grant from the Florence M. and Paul M. Staehl Foundation with PNC as the Trustee. This grant is for the purchase of materials to construct an indoor exercise aviary. The facility is part of a capital campaign for a new location in Huntertown set to open in 2019.
The structure will enable Soarin’ Hawk volunteers to exercise multiple birds-of-prey at a time, regardless of weather, which will result in the release of rehabilitated raptors more quickly to their natural environment. The exercise aviary will replace the current "creance" method of flying birds outside on tethers, weather permitting, and requiring 3-5 volunteers for a single bird.
Thank you to Staehle Foundation for funding this critical component of Soarin’ Hawk 2.0
