UPDATE: 01/08/2021 Went up to Angola, around Jimmerson Lake to release this little guy. Met with Scott and his wife. We drove back to near the intersection where this guy was found in the road. We parked on a friends property, off of the road and released him in a field. It went great as you can see from the video. 5 people present See attached videos and stills from today

Called about an owl, picked up on the side of the road after being down for a day or so, in Angola, near Jimmerson Lake. Caller had the screech owl in a box. They had heard of us. I gave the them our brochures and told them how to look this guy up on our web site. They had seen him on the side of the road the day before and when they went back he could only fly a bit. They indicated they had seen several of these guys in the area prior.

I took him back to our new ICU and he was triaged by Kim N. He had some sort of fracture on the left wing. As always we hope and pray these little guys can be healed and released back to nature. Prayers for you little guy.

11/13/2020 This owl is in good health except for it's broken metatarsus. This is a very small bone (its like our fingers) and difficult to repair. We have wrapped its wing to stabilize it to keep it from further injury. The outcome for this bird will depend on how well this fracture heals

11/28/2020 This owl is recovering very well, it is eating on its own and has a typical screech owl personality. We are planning on doing an xray this coming week to see if its broken metatarsus has healed properly

12/5/2020 This owl's fracture is not completely healed according to it's x-ray. We will continue monitoring it in our treatment facility. It will have another x-ray in a few weeks to determine if it has completed healed

12/16/2020 This owl's fracture is not completely healed according to it's x-ray. We will continue monitoring it in our treatment facility. It will have another x-ray in a few weeks to determine if it has completed healed

How You Can Help

It's important to rescue, rehab, and share these birds with the community, and we thank our donors and volunteers for making it possible.
