UPDATE: On July 5 at 2:30 PM, Bob released BDOW 2012-06-11, at the Cedar Creek Crossing on Dekalb CR68 about 50 yds from CR17. After willingly captured in the flight pen by Bill and Bob, the owl decidedly refused to leave the transport box! Several attempts to get him/her to leave at ground level. Finally Bob gently removed him/her from the box, oriented the owl toward the opening in the woods and opened his hands. The owl flew about 50 yds to a branch about 30 feet up. As soon as Bob retrieved his camera for a quick picture, the owl saw where he/she was and flew further into the woods, followed by a chorus of scolding robins. His founder Zeke Chapulas and his daughter happily witnessed the release.

A  caller from Fort Wayne was driving on CR 68 by Garrett and saw this barred owl in the road. They were able to easily pick it up. They kindly offered to bring it to us. This bird had multiple abrasions and scratches on the front of its body. From above it's beak to the tops of its talons. It is being treated for pain and being kept in our treatment facility for continued observation

How You Can Help
