05292017 Eastern Screech Owl - 1

Admission Date:
UPDATE: 10/27/2017 -After almost two months of rest and recuperation, this little guy was ready to go back into the wild! He gained weight and was flying well so he was released back to where he came from, Wabash, Indiana. Adult birds we always try and release back where they came from in case they have a mate waiting for them.

Initial exam: This adult eastern screech owl was alert but subdued.  No injuries were found on initial exam.  He was extremely thin.  Radiographs will be taken tomorrow.

Radiographs did not reveal any fractures. He is lethargic and emaciated and we still not not know the reason for his condition. He is being tube fed and given subcutaneous fluids. His prognosis at this time is unknown.

How You Can Help

It's important to rescue, rehab, and share these birds with the community, and we thank our donors and volunteers for making it possible.
