Flew into a building

Today, Soarin' Hawk received a call from a girl  in downtown Ft. Wayne.  She said that she observed a hawk being chased by other birds, and the hawk flew into the side of a building at Berry and Ewing Streets.  The hawk landed on his back, so the girl picked him up, wrapped him in a shirt and called us.  When I arrived there, she had the hawk in her arms.  I did a quick assessment and could not see anything physically wrong with him.  I took him to Gigi, who did an examination on him and could not see any injuries.  The hawk was alert and feisty.  I called our vet tech, Kat and suggested that we take him to a park close to downtown and put him on the ground to see if he would fly.  We took him to Bloomingdale Park, by the river, close to downtown, put him on the ground, and he flew beautifully into the trees.

How You Can Help

It's important to rescue, rehab, and share these birds with the community, and we thank our donors and volunteers for making it possible.
