UPDATE: Success This bird was released back into the wild on Oct 10, 2016

Lisa rescued a baby screech tonight from Columbia City.  This is a very small baby and it was the only one found.  Bird was in the person's yard and was she was afraid the dogs would get it. No sign of parent. No injury. A little on the thin side.  Fed approximately 10-12 cut pinkies (ran out of mice because of the owl explosion, only had chicks) Ate everything!

When we receive a new orphan, it is often not put with other orphans until we make sure it is healthy and eating well.  This little guy still wants to cuddle with something, so he was given a stuffed animal.  Soon he will be put with two other orphaned screech owls.

05182016-ESOW.   This little guy is thriving and is in a flight pen with other orphaned screech owls.  All the orphans appear to be releasable.

How You Can Help

It's important to rescue, rehab, and share these birds with the community, and we thank our donors and volunteers for making it possible.
