Cause of Admission:
Caught in a soccer net
UPDATE: 04/16/2020 This very strong and angry great horned owl was released back to where it was found

I was driving up to get coffee, when Lynne called and said an owl was caught in a soccer net.  Of course I said, send me the directions.  It just so happened that I had just passed the subdivision where the bird was located.  I made a u turn and was at the house in 5 minutes.

I was directed to the back of the house and found the GHOW entangled in a soccer net.  Also in the net was the rabbit he had been chasing; also entangled in the net.  I spent the better part of 10 minutes cutting the owl out and freeing it.  Once in the box, I went back and freed the rabbit as well.  It took off like a, well you know.  Saved them both.

He was taken back to ICU and triaged.  As always, I hope and pray for them all to make it.  Lets hope this guy makes it back to nature.

How You Can Help

It's important to rescue, rehab, and share these birds with the community, and we thank our donors and volunteers for making it possible.
