Soarin' Hawk was called around 4:45pm on Sunday, February 28th and later found out that some residents nearby had an owl caught in a soccer net behind their house. The residents said they did not know what it was, and left the owl there since Friday the 26th. When the volunteer who was on the call got a little closer, what appeared to be just an owl turned out to be a Great Horned Owl. The owl was fully alert and seemed to be doing fine. It was pretty caught up in the net. After some cutting and unwinding of the net, the owl was free. Once the owl was given a quick checkup of it's wings, eyesight, talons, and given a healthy keel score; it was set free and flew out of sight. Another day, another rescue.
