Via volunteer Don:

The Soarin’ Hawk rescue hotline received a call, reporting a hawk down at a home in Grant County outside of Marion, IN.  I met Morgan who reported that she came home and the hawk was in the driveway and walked/ran away instead of flying.  She placed a basket over it and kept it in the garage until I arrived.  Upon arrival I found an alert but quiet, mature red-tailed hawk with a droopy left wing.  The right wing appeared, felt, and moved normally.  The left wing was drooping, had a limited range of motion, and an abnormality could be felt along the ulna and radius (forearm).  He was also very thin with a keel score of 1.5.  He was placed in a transport box and taken to Pine Valley Veterinarian Clinic for further evaluation and treatment.

This hawk was discovered to have an old fracture in his humerus.  His prognosis for eventual release is guarded.  He is being treated in our treatment facility.
