UPDATE: 02/21/19 This beautiful feisty owl died very unexpectedly. It was discovered to have another broken leg. We were looking at the possibility it might have a calcium insufficiency when it died

This morning, at 7:45, Dustin W. found a barred owl in Lahmeyer Rd. near Stellhorn Rd.  Two calls later he reached Soarin’ Hawk and was instructed to cover the owl and move him off the road.  Betty S. stopped to help and provided a box for cover.  I took the owl to ICU with a damaged eye and leg, and a bloody beak.

01/17/2019. This owl is receiving pain medication in our treatment center. It has a broken left femur. Surgery was performed to insert a pin in the femur to stabilize it.

01/24/19 - This owl is eating well and the medication for pain has been discontinued.  It is still in our treatment facility.

02/08/19. This owl had its pin removed from it leg. It is still standing and not perching . It is eating well and getting feistier
